First held in 2003, the Download Festival takes place in Donington Park, in Leicestershire, each year - with the biggest names in rock playing to a rawcous audience.
It belatedly took the place of the much-loved Monsters of Rock Festival, last held in the same venue in 1996.
Over the years it has had a string of high profile headliners over the years, including the like of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Kiss, Faith No More, and Guns N' Roses.
Last year saw Green Day, Sleep Token, and Korn close the three days on the main stage.
The first lineup announcement is set to be announced in October with the festival taking place from June 10-14.
Here are 12 bands that could be topping the bill - from near-certs to longshots.

5. The Strokes
They've already been announced for next year's Coachella so it looks like New York alt-rockers The Stokes could be on the festival circuit next year. They last played Download back in 2007 and have enough hits for a blistering headline set. | AFP via Getty Images

6. Blink-182
Download have been embracing the poppier side of rock in recent years (Busted in 2024 being a case in point) an few bands do that kind of thing better than Blink-182. Somewhat incredibly they have never played Download before - would they be able to go stright to the headline slot? | AFP via Getty Images

7. Deftones
Strong rumours that Deftones would play Download this year came to nothing, so maybe 2026 will be different. They have a well-received new album in 'Private Music' and have already announced a series of gigs in the UK. The issue could be that Download like attracting 'UK exclusives' who aren't playing any other British gigs. Still, few would complain about seeing them on the bill. | Getty Images

8. Muse
Muse headlined Download in 2015 and always guarantee a spectacular show. The timings could work for 2026 - they released new single 'Unravelling' in June and are expected to release their tenth studio album in the first half of next year. | Getty Images for iHeartRadio
