Musicals & Opera review: Mercy And The Wild Sea

The police should be informed that someone has been violently forced against their will to create an unwarranted fusion of a derivative computer game and a bad Marillion album.

Star rating: *

Venue: Paradise in Augustines

How else to explain the existence of this atrocious sci-fi rock musical?

Flanked by jobbing musos, an actor in the guise of a blathering old bore narrates a nonsensical and woefully po-faced cosmic love story while cheap film/computer inserts fail to dazzle the senses.

The ugly score combines drab power ballads with generic heavy rock instrumentals. It’s awful.
