US will 'be a problem' for Europe in 2027 Ryder Cup, warns Brandt Snedeker after Presidents Cup win
Americans storm to victory over Internationals at Medinah after dominating last-day singles
Brandt Snedeker fired an early battle cry ahead of next year’s Ryder Cup after leading the US to victory in the Presidents Cup then declaring: “This team is going to be a problem in Ireland. It’s going to be a problem.”
The Americans came from three points behind heading into the last-day singles at Medinah to beat the Internationals 17-13 following a resounding 9.5-2.5 victory in the concluding session.
“It doesn’t mean anything for me, it means more for USA golf,” declared winning captain Snedeker. “I think we’re all tired of this narrative that we don’t care about each other, that we don’t know how to play team golf. I think this proves it.

“You don’t come back the way we did if these guys haven’t all bought into each other. This team is going to be a problem in Ireland. It’s going to be a problem.”
While it wasn’t clear what he exactly meant by that, it seemed as though he was tipping the Americans to do well in next year’s centenary edition of the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland.
Jim Furyk, who was one of Snedeker’s vice captains at Medinah, will lead the US into battle in County Limerick, where Luke Donald is bidding to create history as the first captain on either team to be a three-time winning captain.
“We've made some good runs on Sunday, but it's hard to really get them over the hump and actually finish it off, and these guys finished it off like I've never seen before. I'm proud of them,” said Furyk.
“If you've been listening all year and you've heard my media all year, it's really been about, why did you come back? Why did you want to be the Ryder Cup captain? Because I love these guys. I really do. I think they're special. We've got a lot of great veterans in the room. We've got a lot of folks that we really lean on, and we've got a lot of young guys.”
Jackson Koivun, the youngest of the lot at 21, was the lone player to go undefeated over the four days in Illinois, capping his sparkling performance with a two-hole win over Si Woo Kim in the singles.
“Our three rookies, they balled out this week,” added Furyk, who was also at the helm for the US in the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in France. “I'm really proud of them. I'm really happy for them.”
