Tartan Tour legend's 'legacy' at his beloved home Scottish golf club
Colin Gillies Memorial Trophy will be played for annually at Falkirk Golf Club
A new trophy in memory of two-time Scottish PGA champion Colin Gillies will be played for the first time this year at Falkirk Golf Club.
Gillies, a popular figure in Scottish golf as he became the all-time leading money-winner on the PGA in Scotland’s Tartan Tour, passed away last year at the age of 58.

He was a proud “Falkirk man” and it is fitting that the Colin Gillies Memorial Trophy will be played for at his home club.
It was presented on behalf of the Gillies family by his brother John and will be up for grabs in a two-round competition in May and June.
“It was clear how important it is to the family that Colin is remembered here at Falkirk Golf Club, a place that meant so much to him and to the Gillies family as a whole,” said a post on Falkirk Golf Club’s Facebook page.
“John also shared how proud Colin’s daughter is to see her dad honoured in this way and how much it means to her that his legacy will live on at his home club.

“The family’s ties to Falkirk run deep. Their dad was club captain in 1981, the very same year John was club champion, and Colin went on to build an incredible golfing career.
“His legacy will now live on here at Falkirk, and we are proud to be part of that.”
