Scottish golf club to mark special James Braid anniversary in 2026
Four-day celebration being staged at Golspie in September - and all for just £300
A Scottish golf course is marking the 100th anniversary of James Braid completing his design work on it by staging a special event this year.
A four-day celebration of golf at Golspie Golf Club is being held at the Highland course in September.
The James Braid Centenary Festival of Golf will bring together golfers from across the UK and overseas for four days.

“James Braid’s work helped shape the character of the course we play today, and this centenary gives us a chance to truly celebrate that,” said club captain William McBeath. “For us, that means bringing people together to enjoy the course, the clubhouse and our love for the game.”
The event will run from 24-27 September. It will open with a 5 Club Challenge taking on a members-and-locals versus visitors format, followed by a 2 Ball Texas Scramble the following day.
Reduced rate also available at Brora
The third day will feature both ladies’ and gents’ Stableford competitions, with the day concluding in a formal centenary dinner and ceilidh.
The celebrations will then come to a close with a ladies’ and gents’ Strokeplay Singles, followed by presentation and prizegiving in the clubhouse.
Festival tickets are priced at £300 and cover all four days of competitive golf, as well as access to the programme of off-course events taking place throughout the week.
Ticket holders will also enjoy access to a special-rate round at nearby Brora Golf Club while a limited number of social-only tickets will be available for evening events and the centenary dinner.
“We wanted to create something that reflects Golspie’s character – competitive but inclusive, social without being formal, and welcoming to members, locals and visitors alike,” added McBeath.
Further information about the event is available via the Golspie Golf Club website at www.golspiegolfclub.co.uk/festival-of-golf/
Tickets are also available to purchase by emailing the club directly at [email protected].
