David Scott’s side recoed 4-0 whitewash in afternoon session at The K Club

Great Britain & Ireland, captained by David Scott, lead 6-2 after the first day of the 32nd PGA Cup in Ireland.

The home side recorded a 4-0 whitewash in the afternoon fourballs at The K Club after the opening foursomes session had been shared 2-2.

Teamed up by their captain, Scottish duo Gavin Hay and Graeme Robertson won both their matches.

They won 4&3 in the morning against Austin Hunt and Ryan Lenahan in the morning before adding a 3&2 victory after lunch over Ben Kern and Michael Kartrude.

“Everyone played great this afternoon and you can see the numbers were strong on the board,” said Scott, the general manager at Dumbarnie Links.

“Great support, great teamwork. The weather's getting an awful lot better. So, I'm pretty sure the Americans will have a word or two to say about tomorrow and come back firing with all cylinders.

“We'll be ready for them, though. We're excited to be in this position, but we'll absolutely keep our feet on the ground and stay in the present.”
