It's offical: Scotland's football team are through to their second European Championships on the trot after Spain's 1-0 win over Norway guaranteed Steve Clarke's side a top-two finish in Group A.
With two games still to play all that is to be decided is who tops the group - with Spain currently ahead on goal difference.
The 2024 tournament, which will be hosted by Germany, will be Scotland's 12th major championships since the World Cup was established in 1930.
Famously the team have yet to emerge from the group stages to reach the knock-out phase of either a World Cup or European Championships.
Here's how that's happened - a tale of near misses, narrow defeats and going out on goal difference.

9. World Cup 1998
Scotland's impressive run of qualifying for five World Cups on the bounce came to an end when they failed to make it to the 1994 tournament. They bounced back quickly to make it to France in 1998 - the last time they would make it to a World Cup (fingers crossed for 2026!). They were unlucky to not get something out of their opening game against tournamnet favourites Brazil - narrowly losing 2-1. A 1-1 draw against Norway meant hopes were high - but dashed by a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Morroco. Another year spend propping up the bottom of the group. | Getty Images

10. European Championships 1996
If any major tournament typifies the trials and tribulations the national team puts the Tartan Army through, it's probably Euro 96. Hosted by England, Scotland were drawn in the Auld Enemy's group, creating a massive amount of hype before a ball was kicked. It started better than usual, with a 0-0 draw against the Netherlands, before a tight 2-0 loss to England (pictured) decided by a piece of individual genius from Paul Gasgoigne. A 1-0 win against Switzerland left Scotland joint second on points with the Netherlands, and also level on goal difference, only to go out on goals scored. Pure torture. | Getty Images

11. European Championships 2020
Scotland's last major tournament came at Euro 2020 - hosted by 11 different cities in 11 UEFA countries. A 0-0 draw against England (pictured) was the only highlight of a disappointing tournament which saw Scotland prop up the table following a 2-0 loss to the Czech Republic and a 3-1 defeat to Croatia. | POOL/AFP via Getty Images
