Sam Locke maintains impressive winning feat on Tartan Pro Tour

Aberdonian extends success streak to seven years in a row on Scottish-based circuit

Sam Locke maintained his remarkable feat of recording at least one win in every single season on the Tartan Pro Tour since the circuit was launched by Paul Lawrie in 2020.

The 27-year-old’s latest success on the Scottish-based circuit came in the Scottish Par 3 Championship on the splendid Devenick Course at Paul Lawrie Golf Centre on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Locke opened with a 49 before adding a 53 the closing with another 49 to post an 11-under-par total, winning by four shots from American John Vogelpohl, with 2025 winner Scott Henry a shot further back in third.

“It feels great,” admitted Locke of his performance, which earned him a first prize worth $4,500. “I played well and it was mainly my putting as I putted really, really good for a few days, which was nice. My game is starting to take shape.”

The 2018 Open Silver Medal winner landed his first success on the circuit in the 2020 Carnoustie Challenge before adding the Barassie Links Classic the following year.

He won again in Ayrshire in 2022 in the Dundonald Links Championship then kept his run going when landing the Pollok Open in 2023 before claiming a hat-trick of titles - Montrose Masters, Portlethen Classic and St Andrews Classic - in 2024.

A 2025 victory came in the Duddingston Classic and Locke enjoyed being reminded about his winning streak after stretching it to an impressive seven years in a row.

“I’m the only player to do that and that’s a cool achievement,” he admitted, with another Tartan Pro Tour assignment on the cards this week in the shape of the Portlethen Classic.

‘Looking to go again’ in Portlethen Classic

After four events, Locke sits sixth in the Order of Merit and has his sights set on repeating his 2024 feat of securing one of two HotelPlanner Tour cards up for grabs at the end of the season.

“I lost my full HotelPlanner Tour card at the end of last year,” said Locke. “I’m still getting a few events off my category, so I am mixing that with the Tartan Pro Tour stuff.

“I’m really happy to get a win and will be looking to go again at Portlethen. I’ll just keep working hard on what I have been doing so far this season and see where it takes me.”
