Scotland trio named in Six Nations team of championship as one nation misses out

Standout Scots honoured as France and Ireland claim four spots each

Three Scotland players have been named in the 2026 Six Nations team of the championship.

Finn Russell, Rory Darge and Kyle Steyn have all earned a spot in the all-star XV for standout displays following a vote by supporters on the official Six Nations platforms.

Russell takes the number 10 jersey after totalling the second highest number of individual points (53) in the tournament behind Thomas Ramos (74). As well as scoring 43 points with his boot, the Bath fly-half also bagged two tries which came in the win over Wales on matchday three and the final round defeat to Ireland.

He was central to Scotland's attacking performance in their most prolific campaign ever (20 tries across five matches) with eight line-break assists placing him among the top creators in the tournament.

Darge was voted as the tournament's most effective openside flanker after contributing a staggering 326 total actions (carries, tackles, ruck entries) with a defensive success rate of 97.4 per cent. His eight turnovers were the joint highest in the championship while the Glasgow Warriors man made more tackles (74) than any other Scottish player.

Steyn earned his spot on the wing after his most eye-catching Six Nations to date which included three tries - a double against France and one against Wales - and the player of the match award in the Calcutta Cup win over England.

The Glasgow captain was way out in front for defenders beaten (26) across the five matches while gaining 316 metres for his side with an average of 8.5m per carry - second only to Tommaso Menoncello at 8.6m per carry.

Other Scotland players who made notable individual contributions included Darcy Graham (four tries), George Turner (100 per cent lineout success from 33 throws), Ben White (most retained kicks - 14) and Grant Gilchrist (100 per cent tackle success).

France and Ireland each contributed four players to the team. Despite a below par display at Murrayfield, Antoine Dupont takes the number nine jersey while Louis Bielle-Biarrey is selected on the opposite wing to Steyn after setting a new all-time championship record with nine tries. Mickaël Guillard and Thomas Ramos make up the French contingent.

Ireland lock Tadgh Beirne, the scourge of Scotland, takes his place in the second row, with Jack Conan selected in the back row. Caelan Doris was voted the tournament's top number eight while Stuart McCloskey was picked at 12.

Italy’s impressive tournament was reflected by three inclusions with Giacomo Nicotera and Simone Ferrari selected in the front row and Tommaso Menoncello taking his place at 13. Rhys Carré was the only Wales player to make the cut at loosehead prop, while there was no representation from England after their fifth placed finish - their worst in Six Nations in history.
