Scotland Nations Championship Test referees named as Hollie Davidson to take charge of historic fixture

Gregor Townsend’s side will face Argentina, South Africa and Fiji in their Summer Tests.

Scotland have learned the officiating teams for all three of their Summer Test matches in the inaugural rounds of the Nations Championship.

Gregor Townsend’s side will take on Argentina, South Africa and Fiji next month prior to fixtures against New Zealand, Australia and Japan later this year in November. The matches against Los Pumas and the Springboks are set to take place in Cordoba and Pretoria respectively, while the Flying Fijians will visit Murrayfield in the final fixture.

Scottish referee Hollie Davidson will be the official in charge of the match between Fiji and England. It will be the first time ever that rugby union has been played at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, the home of Everton Football club which was opened in 2025.

Referee teams and TMO named for Scotland Test matches against Argentina, South Africa and Fiji

Georgia official Nika Amashukeli will take charge of Scotland’s opening Nations Championship contest against Argentina at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba on July 4. The last time he took charge of a match involving Gregor Townsend’s side was their 31-20 Calcutta Cup victory over England at Murrayfield in this year’s Six Nations.

He will be assisted by Paul Williams of New Zealand and Adam Leal of England. The Television Match Official (TMO) for the match will be Brett Cronan of Australia and he will be assisted by France’s Tual Trainini.

Frenchman Pierre Brousset has been named as the referee for South Africa vs Scotland at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on July 11. His last Scotland match was the 2024 Calcutta Cup clash against England at Twickenham in that year’s Six Nations. Glasgow Warriors fans will most recently remember him as the man in the middle for their Investec Champions Cup knockout-stage win over Vodacom Bulls.

He will be assisted by James Doleman of New Zealand and Andrew Brace of Ireland. The TMO and assistant TMO will be Richard Kelly of New Zealand and Olly Hodges of Ireland.

Finally, Matthew Carley of England will be the referee for Fiji vs Scotland at Murrayfield on July 18. His most recent Scotland match was the 26-23 win over Wales in Cardiff in this year’s Six Nations.

Two Irish officials, Eoghan Cross and Anthony Woodhouse, will be his assistant referees. The TMO will be Eric Gauzins of France and he will be assisted by Leo Colgan of Ireland.

Scottish officials earn spots across inaugural Nations Championship Test matches

While Davidson takes charge of Fiji vs England on July 11, she will have fellow Scottish officials Sam Grove-White as one of her assistants and Mike Adamson as the TMO. Davidson herself will serve as an assistant referee to Mathew Carley in the Fiji vs Wales fixture on July 4, where Adamson will be the assistant TMO.

Grove-White will also be one of the assistant referees in the match between Japan and Italy in Tokyo on July 4. That team will be led by Australian official Nic Berry on the day.
