Scotland international ruled out until next season and will miss Nations Championship summer leg
Forward injury far worse than first feared
Alex Craig, the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland forward, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a foot injury against Benetton last week.
It was initially thought to be a relatively minor issue but was later diagnosed as a ripped tendon underneath his big toe. It means the lock forward will play no part in the run-in as Glasgow mount a challenge in the Champions Cup and the United Rugby Championship.

He will also miss Scotland’s summer matches against Argentina, South Africa and Fiji in the inaugural Nations Championship.
Craig, who played against Ireland in the final match of this year’s Six Nations, will undergo an operation next week.
“He won't be able to play again this season,” confirmed Franco Smith, the Warriors head coach. “He'll be back only for round two of URC ’26-27. He's had a similar injury to the one that Patrick Schickerling had. He ripped a tendon at the bottom of his foot underneath his big toe. He actually thought his boot ripped and he changed the boot and the pain didn't go away. Obviously it's a blow for us.
“He's going to get operated on Monday and hopefully we'll get the recovery process going as quickly as possible.”
Craig’s absence leaves Smith short of options in the second row, with both Scott Cummings and Gregor Brown currently sidelined after picking up injuries during the Six Nations. Max Williamson and Alex Samuel will be Glasgow’s starting locks in Saturday’s match against the Bulls in the Investec Champions Cup round of 16 tie.
