Glasgow Warriors vs Toulon referee confirmed as EPCR announces Champions Cup quarter final officials
Franco Smith’s side will host the three-time winners at Scotstoun in their first ever home Champions Cup quarter final
Glasgow Warriors are preparing for their first ever home quarter final in the Investec Champions Cup this weekend with French heavyweights Toulon heading for Scotstoun.
The three-time winners of the competition will provide a tough test for Franco Smith’s side, who finished second in the pool stage and beat the Vodacom Bulls 25-21 at home in the Round of 16 last weekend to secure their seeding. Toulon overcame a nervy contest against DHL Stormers at the Stade Mayol, winning by just a single point in a 28-27 victory.
Ahead of the match the EPCR (European Professional Club Rugby), the governing body and organiser of top-tier European club rugby union tournaments, has confirmed the match officials for all four quarter finals including Glasgow Warriors vs Toulon.

English official Karl Dickson will be the referee for Glasgow Warriors vs Toulon for their Investec Champions Cup quarter final clash at Scotstoun. It will be the first time this season the 43-year old has refereed a match involving Franco Smith’s side.
Dickson’s most recent appointment was during the 2026 men’s Six Nations where he took charge of Ireland’s 27-17 win over Wales at the Aviva Stadium on March 6. He also refereed France vs Ireland in the same competition prior to that, having been the man in the middle for Exeter Chiefs vs Bristol Bears in England’s Gallagher Premiership before that.
Dickson was appointed for back-to-back Champions Cup fixtures in January this year including Toulon vs Munster at the Stade Mayol. His last Champions Cup appointment was Pau vs Bulls on January 16th.
Dickson, an experienced club and test level official, last refereed a Glasgow match in January 2024 when they faced Racing 92 in a Champions Cup clash at Scotstoun. He then wen’t on to take charge of Scotland vs Italy in the 2024 Six Nations shortly after.
Dickson is notable for being an ex professional rugby player himself. The former scrum half played for Bedofrd Bulls and Harlequins during his playing career, making over 150 appearances for the Richmond-based outfit.
Adam Leal of England and Ben O’Connor of Ireland will be the assistant referees for the match. The TMO is Stuart Terheege of England.
