Glasgow Warriors’ Champions Cup quarter-final opponents have been handed a timely boost ahead of their trip to Scotstoun this weekend.

Toulon are set to welcome back France scrum-half Baptiste Serin after the 31-year old missed their last two matches, including their round of 16 victory over DHL Stormers. The 50-times capped Six Nations winner sustained a shoulder injury in his club’s 46-27 Top 14 defeat away to Stade Français on March 21.

Things initially looked bad for the former Bordeaux Bègles back as he left the field of play in visible discomfort. However, it was soon discovered that the problem was not as severe as first thought and has only kept him out for less than a month.

Decision time for Toulon coach after ‘exceptional’ performance by Scotland star

Serin’s return from injury should see him back in the matchday 23 for the trip to Scotstoun but a place in the starting XV is far from guaranteed. Scotland international Ben White scored a try in Toulon’s win last weekend and was described by head coach Pierre Mignoni as ‘exceptional’ in the aftermath.

In terms of players who will be missing for the visitors this weekend, full-back Marius Domon has become the latest to be ruled out after sustaining a knee injury in their win over the Stormers. He joins France international prop Dany Priso on the injury list with the two-times Six Nations winner suffering a suspected ruptured Achilles tendon in the same match.

Former Munster and Bristol Bears centre Antoine Frisch also remains unavailable through injury and they now look set to be left light in that position after All Blacks legend Ma’a Nonu’s suspension.

The 103-times capped New Zealand international was cited by the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) governing body following an alleged dangerous tackle in his side’s Champions Cup round of 16 tie. The 43-year old’s ban will last three weeks in total after he accepted the result of the disciplinary panel to upgrade his yellow card to a red. He will be free to return on April 27 or, if he applies for and successfully completes the World Rugby Coaching intervention programme, April 20.
