Glasgow Warriors' Jamie Dobie commits ahead of landmark and cites 'world class' environment
Scrum-half/wing praised for his ‘versatility and understanding’
Glasgow Warriors’ versatile back Jamie Dobie has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract which takes him up to summer 2029.
Dobie, 25, has evolved into one of Glasgow’s most influential players and also established himself in the Scotland squad.
Equally comfortable at scrum-half and on the wing, the Invernessian scored six tries in 10 games for the Warriors before injury disrupted his season. He also weighed in with a hat-trick for Scotland against the United States at Murrayfield in the autumn.

He started on the wing for the national side in the Six Nations opener against Italy which ended in defeat in Rome and then helped Scotland beat England in round two. However, a shoulder injury sustained in the Calcutta Cup ruled him out for 16 weeks and it wasn’t until the United Rugby Championship semi-final against the Bulls earlier this month that he was able to make his comeback. He is currently with the Scotland squad preparing for next month’s Nations Championship.
99 appearances
Dobie, who has made 99 appearances for Glasgow in his seven years with the club, praised the “world class” environment at Scotstoun.
“I'm delighted to extend my contract with Glasgow Warriors,” he said. “It's a club that means a lot to me and I'm incredibly proud every time I pull on the jersey, especially playing in front of our supporters at Scotstoun.
“It's a brilliant environment here, and spending every day surrounded by world class players, coaches and staff makes it the best place for me to keep developing as a player. We've got an exciting, ambitious group here and I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together over the next few years.”

Glasgow lost 22-21 to the Bulls in the URC semi having finished top of the table at the end of the regular season and a number of senior players have now left the club, including Jack Dempsey, Huw Jones, Adam Hastings, Johnny Matthews, Jamie Bhatti and Sione Vailanu. It makes Dobie’s decision to stay all the more important.
Franco Smith, the Warriors head coach, said: “Jamie has shown consistent growth during his time with the club and continues to develop as a player and a leader within our environment.
“His versatility and understanding of our game are important attributes, as is his willingness to work hard every day and set a positive example for those around him.
“He is a player who cares deeply about representing Glasgow Warriors and we are pleased that he has committed his long-term future to the club.”
