'Exactly how I would have wanted my 100th cap to go' - Jamie Dobie celebrates Glasgow Warriors century
Scotland star scored two tries at Thomond Park to help Warriors kick off the new URC season with a bonus point win away to Munster
As special days in your career go, Jamie Dobie says he couldn’t have imagined a much better one than celebrating his 100th Glasgow Warriors appearance with a win away to Munster.
Franco Smith’s side kicked off their 2026/27 URC campaign by leaving Thomond Park with a bonus point win. They overcame a dogged home side to run out 26-20 victors with the winger scoring two important tries.
After leading the players out on to the pitch the 25-year-old started his season as he will mean to go on with a stellar individual performance. However, he was more pleased by the overall efforts of his teammates in the face of challenging conditions and difficult opponents

“I said to the boys in the changing room that if I was to draw up how my hundredth cap looked before, I was pretty close to it,” said Dobie. “That's nothing personally, that's just how the team performs.
“The nature of the win, the grittiness, the tenaciousness that we showed in being able to fight back from being down at half time. That's exactly how I would have wanted my 100th cap to go, so yeah, delighted to be part of a team where we can do that and mark the milestone like that.”
The occasion was made even more special as Dobie’s parents were able to travel over to Limerick. After the match, he was presented with his 100th cap by fellow Warriors centurion George Horne.
“Both my mum and dad made it over, which was extra special,” added Dobie. “They've given me so much support through my career so far and even before that.
“To have them both here in the stands was special and to be able to have them in the changing room for receiving my cap was special. It's always amazing to have that support and I know there were plenty of family watching from home who couldn't make it over. It never goes unappreciated, their support and helping me get to this position.
“George spoke and gave me my 100th cap, which was amazing. I've been around the club now for seven seasons, this is the start of my eighth. I've seen plenty of guys reach milestones and hear how much it means to them. So to be on the opposite side of that and receiving mine tonight is really meaningful and a very special night.”
JJ Hanrahan kicked a penalty to give Munster an early lead before Glasgow had Ollie Smith sent to the sin bin for a deliberate knock-on.
Ben O’Connor scored the opening try for Munster in the 14th minute before Dobie put Glasgow on the board just after the half-hour following a maul. Munster, though, took a 17-7 lead into the break after Michael Milne’s close-range score and Hanrahan again made the conversion.
Nathan McBeth scored a second try for the Warriors after 52 minutes when he went over in the corner, but Hanrahan slotted another penalty just before the hour to restore Munster’s lead to six points.
After summer signing Bayley Kuenzle made his competitive Glasgow debut when coming off the bench, Glasgow edged in front for the first time in the 68th minute when George Horne went over after Dobie had broken towards the line, and then converted his own try. Dobie wrapped things up when he barged through again in the corner with four minutes left to secure a bonus point.
A lot of the momentum in the game seemed to change early in the second half as Warriors changed their entire front row. Munster had dominated the scrum up to that point but Nathan McBeth, Seb Stephen and Sam Talakai were introduced and soon took control, winning a decisive scrum penalty.
Dobie shared his love for the front-row by saying: “To be honest, there's nothing I love more than seeing a scrum penalty. That was amazing. I thought the whole bench brought on amazing energy, especially that front row change just after half-time.
“It was great to be able to swing the mentality of the match and know that we have that in the locker. I think there's a couple of massive moments from the boys that came off the bench and as a unit that helped us turn the tide and then be able to walk away with the win.”
Dobie believes the result should serve as proof that Glasgow are not to be written off as title contenders this season despite the loss of key players over the summer. He added: “We know as a group that's in the building now that nothing changes and we know what we're striving for. I think tonight showed exactly that and it's a fantastic way to start the season.
“Coming over to Munster, it's a challenging place and to pick up the bonus point win just shows how strong this squad still is and that we mean business.”
