Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors given tough Champions Cup last-16 ties - full draw and path to final

How the knock-out phase looks upon completion of group matches

Scotland’s representatives in the Investec Champions Cup have discovered their last-16 opponents after the final pool-phase matches were completed on Sunday.

Glasgow Warriors are assured of home advantage all the way to the final in Bilbao after finishing as the second-best team across the groups and their reward is a home game against fellow URC side and rivals Bulls at Scotstoun, who they beat 21-12 earlier this season and won the 2024 league championship against over in Pretoria.

Should Warriors defeat the South African outfit, then they will host either French side Toulon or another URC side Stormers.

Edinburgh Rugby snuck through Pool 2 in fourth place, but they have been handed a tough tie after being drawn against Irish heavyweights Leinster away from home.

They are also in Glasgow’s half of the draw and would play English opposition in either Harlequins or Sale Sharks in the quarter-finals should they prevail in Dublin.

In the top half of the knock-out phase, Bordeaux-Belges of the Top 14 are first seeds and they will take on Leicester Tigers at home. The winner of that match will play either defending champions Toulouse or Bristol Bears in the last eight.

Finn Russell’s Bath are the fourth seeds and they take on another Gallagher PREM side in Saracens, while last season’s runners-up Northampton Saints, also of the PREM, are at home to French opposition in Castres.

The last-16 ties take place across the weekend of April 3/4/5, with the quarter-finals a week later. The semis are slated for the weekend of May 1/2/3 and the final will be staged at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, on May 24.

Investec Champions Cup last 16 ties: Bordeaux-Begles v Leicester Tigers, Toulouse v Bristol Bears, Bath v Saracens, Northampton Saints v Castres, Glasgow Warriors v Bulls, Toulon v Stormers, Leinster v Edinburgh, Harlequins v Sale Sharks.
