Champions tighten grip at summit of French standings

Scotland internationalist Blair Kinghorn helped Toulouse tighten their grip at the summit of France’s Top 14 with a statement victory over nearest challengers Pau.

Toulouse ran in nine tries as they thumped Pau 59-22 at Stade Ernest-Wallon on Saturday to move six points clear in the French standings. Kinghorn played 69 minutes at full-back and while he didn’t get on the scoresheet, he was part of a Toulouse backline that terrorised the visiting defence all afternoon.

The defending champions now have a six-point lead over Pau and further demonstrated that they are back to their best on the back of thrashing Sale Sharks 77-7 last weekend in the Investec Champions Cup.
