Red-hot Sandy Scott wins again on Korn Ferry Tour in US

Scot moves to top of points list heading into season-finale with spots in 2027 Players and US Open up for grabs

Sandy Scott stormed to the top of the Korn Ferry Tour points list heading into the season finale and also broke in the top 100 in the world rankings for the first time after making it back-to-back wins on the PGA Tour’s feeder circuit.

The Nairn man followed up his breakthrough victory a fortnight ago in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship by adding the Compliance Solutions Championship in Oklahoma.

Scott’s latest title triumph came in a play-off, which saw him beat American William Sides with a birdie on the fourth extra hole after the pair had tied on 24 under.

“I was pretty delighted when the putt went in,” admitted Scott of knocking in a 20-footer to win. “There was probably some relief there as well as it was a long day. I mean four play-off holes, there’s probably some stuff coursing through my body right now that’s never been there.

“That’s my first professional play-off and there were feelings that were similar to what I’ve played under but maybe slightly elevated. It was just so fun and four holes as well, so it was strung out. I stuck to my process and hung in there and, yeah, super-delighted to get the win.”

The victory at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso moved Scott to No 1 on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List with 2,176 points. With one event remaining - the Tour Championship gets underway on Thursday in Virginia - only Scott and American Ross Steelman are in the running for the top spot.

The player who comes out on top at the end of the season-long point battle will earn exemptions for the 2027 The Players Championship and 2027 US Open. On the back of his latest triumph, the 28-year-old is up to 87th in the Official World Golf Ranking after a jump of 40 spots.

“I’ve always had the belief I can do it,” added Scott of his recent success. “Yeah, belief is a big part of this game. To do it in this fashion is pretty special and I am proud of the fight to get here and grateful for the support I’ve had to get here To win the last two events is kind of crazy - I don’t know if it will sink in for a while yet, but I am very happy.”

Scott, who has already secured his PGA Tour card for next season, when he will join Bob MacIntyre in flying the Saltire, closed with a bogey-free six-under 64 to set up his latest win. He’d held the lead/co-lead after the first and second rounds with scores of 61 and 64 before finding himself playing catch up heading into the closing circuit in a low-scoring event following a third-day 67.

The former Walker Cup player is the fifth multiple winner on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour this season. He also becomes the second player this season to log back-to-back victories after American Ian Holt.

“I’ve got through some ups and downs with injuries and what not,” reflected Scott, who was troubled by a wrist in particular for a spell. “Yeah, when it first flared up in college, it took a couple of surgeries and steroid injections and I was out for the best part of two years.

“It took a lot of perseverance and help. A couple of months ago it flared up again and I did the right things to let it heal and came back feeling good. I know what helps and hurts it now.”
