£4.5m boost for Women's Scottish Open as Lottie Woad confirms title defence
Gemma Dryburgh excited to be leading home challenge once again at Dundonald Links
Support for golf events in Scotland from the Scottish Government will total £10.8 million over the next three years following another major announcement.
Hot on the heels of the Genesis Scottish Open receiving new backing worth £6.3m for the next three years, the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open has now secured £4.5m funding for the same period.
The news was announced as defending champion Lottie Woad and Scottish No 1 Gemma Dryburgh both committed to tee up at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire on 23-26 July.

For Woad, it will mark a return to the scene of an incredible win on her professional debut on Scottish soil after the English player produced a scintillating performance to land a three-shot victory as she finished with a 21-under-par total last August.
“I’m really excited to return to Dundonald Links this summer,” said the 22-year-old, who currently sits ninth in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, as tickets for the LET/LPGA co-sanctioned event went on sale.
“Last year was such a whirlwind, and winning on my professional debut was so special. I spend a lot of time in Scotland with my family, so to win the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open was amazing and definitely my favourite stop on the schedule so far.
“It’s been an incredible year, so I’m really looking forward to going back and having the chance to defend my title.”
Also joining Woad at this year’s edition is home favourite Dryburgh, a three-time winner of the Jock MacVicar Award for leading Scot. “It’s always incredibly special to play in front of a home crowd, and the support I get in Scotland means so much,” said Dryburgh.
“Dundonald Links is a fantastic venue and a true test of links golf, so I’m really looking forward to being part of such a strong field and putting in a great performance for the fans. It’s been amazing to see how this event has grown from strength to strength over the years.”

This year’s edition marks the third year with ISPS HANDA as title sponsor and the fifth consecutive year the tournament has been held at Dundonald Links.
After previously hosting it three tears in a row from 2015, the event returned to the Ayrshire venue in 2022 following a multi-million-pound redevelopment at what is now a Verde Resorts venue.
