World Open Snooker 2026 Sunday: Prize money, today's final schedule, how to watch, odds - as Ronnie O'Sullivan looks to follow up highest break in history with title win

It’s the final day of play in China - can The Rocket do it?

Taking place under a number of names over the years, with different venues and formats, the World Open snooker championship was originally established as the Professional Players Tournament in 1982.

Later known as the Grand Prix and the LG Cup, it became the World Open in 2010.

Since 2016 it has been held in the Chinese city of Yushan, with former champions including Mark Williams, Ali Carter, Ding Junhui and Judd Trump.

And last year saw Scotland’s John Higgins lift the trophy after defeating Joe O'Connor 10‍–‍6 in the final - becoming the second oldest winner of a ranking event in history (after Ray Reardon).

He returned to defend his title but was knocked out in the second round by England’s Stan Moody.

But the field still includes Ronnie O’Sullivan - with the Rocket lighting up the tournament following a forgettable season where he’s missed a string of tournaments.

He eased past Shaun Murphy to reach the quarter-finals where he whitewashed Ryan Day to reach the final four, including a 153 total clearance - the highest break ever recorded in the sport’s history.

His semi-final match against Yu Wize then went the distance, with O’Sullivan winning a tense final frame decider to set up a final againt Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh who beat favourite Judd Trump in the other semi.
