What channel is Scotland v Australia cricket on? TV and live stream details for T20 international series

How to watch the action live from The Grange

Scotland host Australia in an eagerly anticipated men's T20 international series at The Grange in Edinburgh this week.

The bilateral series begins on Wednesday, September 4, with further fixtures taking place on Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7.

Brad Wheal, a right-handed batsman and right-arm pace bowler, says Scotland’s cricketers will take heart from almost beating Australia in their recent World Cup encounter ahead of the fixtures.

The Scots came within two balls of pulling off a seismic shock when the teams met in St Lucia in June before eventually succumbing to a five-wicket loss that saw them exit the tournament at the group stage.

Wheal, who took the early wicket of David Warner that day, feels that running the reigning one-day world champions so close just three months ago will imbue the team with added belief.

“We know we were in a position to win that game and beat a very good Australian team at a World Cup,” he said. “That gives us belief ahead of these games, knowing that we’ve got into a winning position before and now it’s just making sure we get over the line.

“Weeks like this don’t then come around too often but it’s an amazing opportunity having Australia in our back yard. It will be brilliant for the fans who don’t get to see teams of that calibre playing in Scotland too often. I’m really looking forward to it.”

This is Australia’s first trip to Scotland since 2013 and only came about after Cricket Ireland withdrew from hosting Mitchell Marsh’s side on cost grounds, allowing their Scottish counterparts to step in to offer an alternative.

With England not having played at the Grange since Scotland’s famous victory in 2018 and India not having toured here since 2007, Wheal admits it is disappointing how few of the major nations come north for matches.

He added: “It can be frustrating at times as we don’t always get the opportunities we feel we deserve as a Scotland team. That’s just the nature of things. But we showed the world what we can do against Australia and also against England in the World Cup. Hopefully in the next couple of years we’ll start to get more chances to play against the elite nations.”
