Kirsty Muir at the Winter Olympics: Here are 16 spectacular photos of the Scottish ski star coming agonisingly close to a medal

It’s been an amazing - if heartbreaking - few days for one of Team GB’s biggest medal hopes at the Winter Olympics.

Scottish skier Kirsty Muir’s Winter Olympics adventure is now over following her appearance at yesterday’s (Monday, February 16) Women's Freeski Big Air Final.

After two of her three runs she was sitting in bronze medal position, only for rival Flora Tabanelli to take the initiative in the final round, performing the same trick Muir had already competed slightly better and moving to third spot.

It forced Muir to try a more difficult manouevre which she failed to land, meaning that she finished in the position every athlete dreads - fourth.

It came days after the athlete also came fourth in the Slopestyle Final, where she was favourite for the gold medal following her win in the same event at the X Games earlier this year.

But it still marked an improvement for the Aberdonian skier, who came 5th and 8th in Slopestyle and Big Air respectively in Beijing four years ago.

Let’s hope she can finally get on the podium at the next Winter Olympics in the French Alps in 2030.

Here are 16 pictures that tell the story of her latest Olympic journey.
