21y/o Scot bidding to win Team GB's first medal at Winter Olympics as curlers face semi-final showdown
All eyes on ski slopes on Monday as Aberdonian chases medal dream
Standing at the top of an 165m vertical drop with the possibility of winning your country's first medal at the Milano Cortina Olympics.
That's exactly where Aberdeen's Kirsty Muir will find herself at 11.30am on Monday morning.
The 21-year-old has the opportunity to start a medal run that could hoist Team GB to an unprecedented Winter Olympics as she drops in third for the women's freestyle skiing slopestyle final.
Fresh off a glittering X Games gold in the event, in which she beat current front runner and Beijing 2022 champion Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland, Muir will have British hopes on her shoulders as she whips out every cab and dub cork in her freeski dictionary.
And with two subdued 60 plus scoring runs in qualifying, there's more to expect from the Aberdeen native.

"I'm just going to give it everything, I'm not going to hold back and I think that if I do that and I put a run down that I'd like to do then I'll be just super proud of myself," she said.
"We had a little bit of training [on Sunday], so I'm just going to go through that and see what I can add into my run and see what I can switch up."
What Muir can produce in the early afternoon could be the spark needed to fire teenage snowboarding sensation Mia Brookes to a possible second medal of the Games the very same evening.
Brookes will go in the women's snowboard big air at 6.30pm looking to clinch her own Olympic medal on her debut.
If you're going to lose a game of curling, it's better that it comes now rather than during the knockout stages. Therefore, Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds 7-6 defeat at the hands of Switzerland has hardly put a dint in their fine performance so far in Cortina.
The duo finally lost their undefeated status after a quick start from the Swiss pair of Yannick and Briar Schwaller that left the battle raging until the final stone.

The duo were back on the ice hours later against home heroes Italy, and with qualification already sealed the previous day, they returned to winning ways with a 9-6 triumph against the reigning world and Olympic champions to secure their spot at the top of the standings.
"We are exactly where we want to be going into the semi-finals at the top of the table and we know that we just need to rest and recover now before tomorrow's final," said Dodds.
"I now want to play Switzerland again because we can beat them this time. But whoever we get, we will be happy and we'll be playing well tomorrow," added Mouat.
If you thought the round-robin was fun, they will now face the ultimate test of Olympic knockout curling, with their semi-final at 4.05pm UK time set to decide which medal they are will play for in Cortina: gold or bronze.
While in Milan, the Spice Girls return to the Olympic ice for the second time in four days as Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson get their ice dance competition underway.
Fan favourites wherever they go, the duo compete in the rhythm dance to a 90's inspired Spice Girls routine, with a place in the free dance on the line.
TNT Sports on discovery+ will be the go-to destination in the U.K to watch everything of Milano Cortina 2026 live all in one place, with over 850 hours of action from every sport, venue, and medal event.
