World No 1 Scottie Scheffler, Masters champion Rory McIlroy, top-ranked Scot Bob MacIntyre and title holder Chris Gotterup had already been announced by tournament organisers.

Now 2024 Open champion Schauffele, two-time PGA winner Justin Thomas and Ryder Cup star Viktor Hovland have also been added to the list of entries for the $9 million Rolex Series event at The Renaissance Club on 9-12 July.

“It’s always fun to come back to the Genesis Scottish Open, and it’s part of a key couple of weeks in my schedule, in the week before The Open,” said Schauffele, who triumphed in one of the toughest tests for the tournament on Scotland’s Golf Coast.

“It’s enjoyable to play somewhere you have had success in the past, and the Scottish fans make me feel so welcome every year.”

Hovland, who was part of Europe’s historic back-to-back Ryder Cup wins in Rome in 2023 and New York last September, will be making a fifth appearance in Scotland’s national open.

“I always enjoy playing in the home of golf whenever I get the chance, and it’s even more special at the Genesis Scottish Open with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour players coming together in the same field,” said the Norwegian.

Two-time PGA champion set for seventh appearance

Thomas, who first played in Scotland at the start of his professional career at the 2013 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, will be making seventh Scottish Open appearance.

The American admitted: “It’s cool to come back each season to the Genesis Scottish Open as part of an exciting two weeks in the UK.”
