'It's carnage' - Bob MacIntyre weighs up tightly-packed PGA Tour schedule
Scot might sit out next PGA Tour Signature Event so that he’s ‘ready to go again’ for PGA Championship
Bob MacIntyre is considering sitting out the PGA Tour’s eagerly-awaited return to Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster for next week’s Cadillac Championship.
The Oban man has played in all four the US circuit’s $20 million Signature Events so far this season and had planned to be teeing up in the next one, which will be a first PGA Tour event to be held at the Donald Trump-owned Florida venue in a decade.
He might still do so, but, equally, MacIntyre could take the week off before teeing up in the Truist Championship, another Signature Event, at Quail Hollow the following week.

“I’m meant to go away on Sunday, but I might take Doral off just to have a little bit more time at home,” admitted the 29-year-old, speaking earlier this week as his participation in this year’s Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club was confirmed.
MacIntyre was accompanied to East Lothian on Tuesday by his partner, Shannon, and their young son, Findlay. He had hoped they’d be able to join him out in the US for the Masters but that didn’t materialise.
Hence why he feels it could be the right thing to do by staying at home next week before heading to North Carolina for another big event before then turning his attention to the PGA Championship at Aronimink in Pennsylvania the following week.
‘It’s about trying to manage myself’
“I will play the Truist at Quail Hollow and then I’ll play the PGA,” he said, with the Charles Schwab Cup at Colonial then set to be part of his preparation for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills in June.
“The schedule is so tightly packed now - it’s carnage - that you just feel as though you can't take a week off,” admitted the world No 12. “So it's about trying to manage myself.
“Obviously living here it’s difficult with the travel and stuff. But it's what I want to do, it's what I've picked to do. Yeah, I just need to give myself enough time to recover and calm down and get ready to go again.”
