Huge jump for Anthony Kim in world rankings after return to winning ways

American back into top 200 in global standings on back of victory in LIV Golf Adelaide event

Anthony Kim has made a massive leap in the Official World Golf Ranking after recording his first win in nearly 16 years.

On the back of pulling off a three-shot victory in the LIV Golf Adelaide event, the American has jumped nearly 640 spots to sit 203rd in the global standings. His career-high position was sixth while he was 149th after his last event in 2012.

In his first outing as 4Aces team member after playing as a wildcard on the breakaway circuit, Kim signed off with a stunning 63 for a 23-under total and a three-shot success over Jon Rahm (71).

It was a reminder of why Kim was one of the game’s top players before stepping away from competitive golf for 12-and-a-half years due to injuries and personal challenges.

“I'm very overwhelmed with this feeling right now,” admitted the 40-year-old, who began the week working out visa issues to get into Australia, then officially signed with 4Aces GC just before the tournament started. “But my plan is to keep getting better and start winning some more trophies.”

The team event in the rebel circuit’s second event of the new season produced a popular win for Ripper GC as Aussie quartet Camerton Smith, Marc Leishman, Elvis Smylie and Lucas Herbert triumphed in front of their home fans.

Meanwhile, former Open champion Collin Morikawa is back in the top ten in the world rankings after winning the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Thanks to his fifth win on the US circuit but first since the 2023 Baycurrent Classic, Morikawa leapt 14 spots to sit fifth.

Bob MacIntyre drops two spots

Bob MacIntyre has dropped two places to ninth after he finished joint-37th in California in his first outing as a new dad.

Scottie Scheffler continues to top the standings ahead of Rory McIlroy, with Tommy Fleetwood back into third spot after leapfrogging Justin Rose.
