First played in 1934 the US Masters is the only one of golf’s four majors to always be played at the same venue - Augusta National Golf Course, in the American state of Georgia.
This year’s competition will be played from April 9-13 and is the first major of 2026.
Last year saw Rory McIlroy become only the sixth player to complete the career grand slam after winning a playoff against fellow Ryder Cup player Justin Rose.
And yesterday saw him make a dream start, with his five under par round seeing him share a lead with American Sam Burns.
Meanwhile Justin Rose also had a pretty good day at the office, tied for sixth on two under par.
But it was a day to forget for Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre who shot a disastrous eight over par 80, including taking nine shots on the 15th, which will see him have to play the round of his life just to make the halfway cut.
Here are 30 of the best pictures of the day.
