How to watch Kilmarnock v Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup
Kilmarnock host Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals on Saturday evening.
The teams meet for the second weekend in a row after battling out a goalless draw in the Scottish Premiership at Pittodrie last Saturday.
Both sides have made poor starts to their respective league campaigns with Killie sitting bottom of the table with just one point from five matches, while Aberdeen are 10th on four points.
However, the cup tie provides an opportunity for either Neil McCann or Stephen Robinson to secure a much-needed boost with a trip to Hampden in the semi-finals up for grabs.
McCann is confident Killie will find the balance between providing entertaining, attacking football and tightening up in defence after his team lost 14 goals in four consecutive defeats at the start of the Premiership season.
“Look, it’s going to come together, I’m pretty sure of that,” he said. “I’ve been strong in my opinions that we’re building a squad that is for the season. I’m in full belief still that it’s going to be a good season.”
An away win will help ease the pressure Dons boss Robinson, who is still battling to win over the Aberdeen support following his arrival from St Mirren in March.
He said: “You get criticism when you don’t win football matches, we are expected to win home games. You have to be big enough to take that, strong enough to take that and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again, and determination’s been the word I can use this week.
“The boys are extremely determined to progress in the cup and change the outlook.”
Both teams won their respective Premier Sports Cup groups with Kilmarnock then beating derby rivals Ayr United 3-2 in the last 16 while Aberdeen knocked out Dundee with a 3-0 win at Pittodrie.
