Rangers agree fee, Celtic star 'not leaving', 6ft 6in striker joins, Hearts latest - Scottish transfer news
All the transfer stories from across Scottish football on Thursday
The latest headlines from the transfer rumour mill in Scottish football this morning:
Cvancara on brink of Celtic move
Czech striker Tomas Cvancara is undergoing a medical ahead of his loan move to Celtic from Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Cvancara, 25, is set to agree a deal until the end of the season. Celtic will have an option to buy the forward and he could be in the squad for Sunday’s Premiership match against Hearts.

“I think it’s pretty close now,” said Celtic manager Martin O’Neill ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match in Bologna. “He’s undergoing his medical, and things are going well. He’ll be in for the weekend game in that case.
“He’s not a target man, believe it or not. He’s not really the John Hartson type, or the type when Chris (Sutton) played alongside Henrik Larsson. He’s quick, he’s agile, and he wants to prove himself.
Engels ‘wants to stay’
Sticking with Celtic, it has been reported that their Belgian midfielder Arne Engels wants to remain at the club despite growing interest from Germany.
Engels, 22, moved to Celtic from Bundesliga side Augsberg for a club record fee in the region of £11 million in the summer of 2024.

A Belgium internationalist, several German sides are monitoring Engels, with RB Leipzig credited with an interest during this January window.
However, it is being claimed by media sources on the continent that Engels is content to stay at Celtic and help them retain the Premiership title.
Mato won’t be in for Celtic
Hearts are closing in on the signing of Ugandan forward Rogers Mato in this transfer window - but it is unlikely he will be available for Sunday’s match against Celtic.
The Jam Tarts agreed a pre-contract deal for Mato, 22, earlier this month and have now negotiated a fee with his current club, FK Vardar from Macedonia. However, Hearts manager Derek McInnes does not expect all the paperwork to be completed by this weekend.

“I think it's going to be tight [for Sunday],” he said. “The good thing is the club have done well to negotiate and broker in the fact that he's coming for this window. This gives us a huge lift.”
Hearts transfer target Laurent Mendy played for Forest Green on Wednesday night, with the Tynecastle outfit weighing up another bid for the French midfielder.
Fee agreed for midfielder
Rangers have been told to pay Dundee in the region of £400,000 for Lyall Cameron following an SPFL tribunal.
Cameron moved by freedom of contract last summer to Ibrox, but the two clubs were unable to agree a compensation fee for the 23-year-old.

It has now been reported that the SPFL has landed on a valuation for the midfielder, who has since been farmed out on loan to fellow Premiership side Aberdeen.
It follows on from the SPFL ordered Rangers to pay the Dons £600,000 for Connor Barron in a similar situation last season.
New striker in Paisley
St Mirren have signed 6ft 6in Cardiff striker Kion Etete on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old saw a season-long loan with English League One Rotherham cut short last week after failing to score in 14 matches.

Etete has scored nine goals in 63 matches for Cardiff since joining from Tottenham in August 2022.
Manager Stephen Robinson told St Mirren’s website: “Kion brings another option up front. He got a very good move to Cardiff after his loan spell at Northampton and we’ve watched him from a distance for a while.
