'He gives us...': Scotland starlet reaches Serie A milestone as international teammate agrees deal

The Scotland international has been told to expect more regular game time after starring in the 2-1 victory.

Scotland international Lennon Miller has been told to “be ready” to play more minutes after being handed his first league start for Udinese since his £4million move from Motherwell in the summer, as they ran out 2-1 winners against Torino.

The 19-year-old has been forced to remain patient since making the switch to the Serie A in the summer, playing just 78 minutes of league football since his arrival. However, Miller was rewarded with his first Serie A start for the club after delivering an impressive performance when coming off the bench at half-time during the 1-0 defeat to Como at the weekend.

Labelled “a very talented player” by Le Zebrette head coach Kosta Runjaic in the aftermath of the weekend defeat, Miller was paired with Jesper Karlstrom in the engine room as second-half strikes from Nicolo Zaniolo and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp secured a deserved victory for the home side against Torino, who introduced Scotland forward Che Adams as a half-time substitute.

Their first win in four games, the victory resulted in them leapfrogging their opponents into 10th place, with Miller playing 80 minutes of the contest. “Today I played from the start, and I'm very happy,” said Miller after the game. “Obviously, I'm especially happy for the win. I feel like I contributed and did well. When you start and win, it's really nice. Obviously, it's difficult to adapt to a new league, but my teammates are always very close to me, even today. The more time passes, the more I'm settling in, and I can show what kind of player I am.

“I'm really happy for this victory,” added Udinese boss Runjaic. “We played a solid game, we picked up from the second half against Como, and with Miller and Karlstrom we were more secure with the ball. Miller is a solid player, he's ready to play more and more, and he's ready to play more minutes. We're still adapting, today we played a serious match against a Torino that I saw in person against Verona and they were a tough team. Shame we conceded at the end, but we're happy for the first win of 2026.”

Elsewhere, Lennon’s international teammate Ross McCrorie has committed his immediate future to Bristol City after the EFL Championship club confirmed he had agreed a contract extension at Ashton Gate. The versatile former Rangers academy star is hopeful of making Scotland’s squad for the World Cup next summer, though it was unclear where his club future would lie with his contract due to expire in June.

A £2million signing for the Robins in the summer of 2023, his impressive performances across the border had seen him linked with a potential move to the English Premier League, with clubs in Europe also said to be monitoring his situation. However, it appears the 27-year-old will remain with his current club for at least another year after a 12-month option in his current contract was triggered.
