Ex-Hearts man finds new club

Former Hearts winger Alan Forrest has completed a free transfer move to Dundee following the expiry of his Tynecastle contract earlier this summer. The 29-year-old had spent the last four seasons with the Jambos following his arrival from Livingston in the summer of 2022, but was one of several players to depart at the end of last season following the end of their contracts in the capital. The former Scotland Under-21 international has penned a two-year deal, with an option to extend that by a further year.

“As soon as Dundee were interested, I thought it was a good fit for me,” said Forrest upon the confirmation of his signing. “The way they played last year, they were a match for any team in the league so I’m looking forward to getting started. Whether it’s helping off the ball or creating and scoring goals, I want to affect games as much as I can. Obviously the competitive games have already started so I’m looking forward to getting into it straight away.”

Livingston confirm exit

Livingston have confirmed the permanent exit of Tete Yengi to J-League outfit Machida Zelvia. The 25-year-old has struggled for form at Almondvale at the start of the 2025/26 campaign and moved to the Tokyo-based side last January. After rediscovering his goalscoring touch at the Machida GION Stadium, Yengi was a surprise call-up to the Australian squad for this summer’s World Cup, where he made two appearances.

A statement on the club’s website said: “Tete provided supporters with many memorable moments in a Livingston shirt, scoring a number of important goals throughout his time at the club. None, however, will be remembered more fondly than his dramatic strike in Dingwall last summer, a goal which secured our play-off victory over Ross County and sealed our return to the Scottish Premiership.

“The club was also immensely proud to see Tete earn international recognition with Australia, culminating in his selection for the Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup squad and representing his country on football’s biggest stage. It was a fantastic achievement for Tete and one that everyone at Livingston was delighted to see.”

Aberdeen confirm another arrival

Aberdeen have continued their squad overhaul under head coach Stephen Robinson this summer after confirming the signing of Livingston’s Lewis Smith for a fee of £300,000. The winger has penned a three-year contract at Pittodrie after spending the last two years at Almondvale, and previously spent six years with Hamilton after beginning his youth career at New Douglas Park.

Having already made an astonishing nine new signings at Aberdeen this summer, Robinson is happy to add further strength to his squad, saying: “We're delighted to bring Lewis to Aberdeen because he was a player we really wanted. As soon as Topi Keskinen's move was completed, Lewis quickly became our priority, and we're pleased to have got the deal done.

“I've admired Lewis for a long time and tried to sign him at previous clubs, but I wasn't in a position to afford him. He's consistently impressed us whenever we've watched him, but what really stood out was that the numbers backed up exactly what our eyes were telling us.”

Rangers exit talked down

Rangers hitman Youssef Chermiti insists he has no plans to leave Ibrox this summer, despite mounting interest in his services from Ligue 1 giants Lyon. The 22-year-old was signed for a reported fee of £8million last summer, and morphed into one of the club’s most important players despite a slow start in Govan, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.

However, several reports had claimed that Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca had made Chermiti one of his key summer transfer targets, as he looks to replace the hole left by Endrick, who returned to Real Madrid following his season-long loan spell at Parc Olympique Lyonnais earlier this summer, with the club ready to offer around £15million to tempt the Glasgow giants into selling their star man.

Despite the interest from the continent, Chermiti doesn’t plan on an exit this summer, though, saying: “I'm very happy here. I like Glasgow, I like the club and everyone likes me as well. I think everyone is just trying to help me with my development. It is not a distraction for me, to be honest. I haven’t heard anything, I don’t hear any noise from outside the club. I leave that with my agent and my family. I'm just focused on this season and on Rangers. I feel very good in the city. Even my family is happy. There is more to come from me. I think that's the target.”

Celtic man in demand

Celtic striker Johnny Kenny is a major summer transfer target for two clubs in the EFL Championship after his impressive form on loan to Bolton Wanderers helped the club to promotion in the second half of last season. Kenny, 23, moved to the Toughsheet Stadium last January and scored six goals in 14 appearances to help the Trotters bag an EFL League One playoff spot, before they went on to defeat Stockport County at Wembley to seal a return to the second tier of English football for the first time in eight years.

Manager Martin O’Neill added Qarabag marksman Camilo Duran to his squad last week, and is now looking to tie down out-of-contract forward Kelechi Iheanacho to a new deal, meaning that Kenny could be available for transfer this summer, and his former club Bolton are now set to rival Millwall for his signature, according to reports.

Signed from Sligo Rovers in the summer of 2022, the Republic of Ireland international broke into the Celtic team under Brendan Rodgers last season, and scored six times in the first half of the season. However, having fallen down the pecking order under O’Neill, it is believed the club will sanction a departure this summer.
