Scottish football drama as young goalkeeper scores stoppage-time goal to dent title bid
Cove snatch point in Highlands - thanks to an unlikely source
There was late drama on Saturday in the Highlands when Cove Rangers goalkeeper Balint Demus scored in stoppage time to earn his side a point away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Caley went into the fixture top of League One and looked set for a crucial victory in their quest to win the title after Alfie Stewart put them ahead with a long-range strike on 39 minutes.
However, Cove - who are in eighth place and are battling relegation - grabbed a point in the fourth minute of added-on time via the most unlikely of sources.

Demus, a 23-year-old goalkeeper who was making only his second appearance of the season, came up for a corner kick and headed home Reuben McAllister’s delivery to spark wild scenes in the away dugout.
Demus left Cove at the end of last season and had a trial period with Dunfermline before performing a U-turn and rejoining the club. He has played second fiddle to Robbie Mutch all throughout the league campaign, but the stopper - who was born in Hungary but grew up in the Aberdeen suburb of Milltimber - was given the gloves against Caley and made an impact at the other end of the pitch.
The goal was even more costly for Inverness after they learned of events at Balmoor Stadium. Substitute Ross Taylor ensured second-placed Stenhousemuir took full advantage with an 89th-minute free-kick to secure a 1-0 win at Peterhead which leaves them level on points with Caley, although having played a game more.
Elsewhere, Nicky Clark’s double either side of a Reece Lyon strike handed Queen of the South a 3-1 win – their first in seven attempts – at Hamilton, who had taken the lead through Oli Shaw.
Alex Ferguson’s 51st-minute penalty cancelled out Brian Easton’s first-half opener as bottom-of-the-table Kelty Hearts fought back to claim a 1-1 home draw against East Fife.
Alloa Athletic and Montrose did battle in the late kick-off live on BBC Alba.
