It is hard to remember a time where it felt the transfer window wasn’t open. With the coronavirus pandemic and uncertainty around the transfer market it has led to a prolonged period of speculation and rumour. We are approaching the end in Scotland, and the 12 top-flight sides have had plenty time to shape their squads.
There is under three weeks remaining for any final tweaks to be made. Most teams look, on paper, in decent enough shape. For some, however, the coming days and weeks could prove crucial for the season ahead.
With that in mind we have looked at one area where clubs may well look to strengthen before the window shuts next month.

9. Rangers - centre-midfield
Injuries to Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack has possibly intensified the need for a central midfielder. There have been strong links to Preston's Daniel Johnson and Bongani Zungu. Looking at the make-up of the Ibrox midfield, a player who is forward thinking with a creative brain and eye for a pass would provide the team with something they are lacking. 10. Ross County - No.10
Harry Paton is an excellent player. A fine young footballer. However, he hasn't quite delivered an end product just yet and you wonder if he is more of a No.8 than a No.10. The Staggies could do with an added goal threat or central playmaker, especially if Ross Stewart plays out wide. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group

11. St Johnstone - centre-midfield
Saints boss Callum Davidson has confirmed he is on the lookout to add more depth to his side with Craig Bryson one possible addition. St Johnstone have a small squad with plenty of talent in certain areas. Depth in the wide roles would also be helpful. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group

12. St Mirren - Creative midfielder
The Buddies could do with back-up in the centre-back position with Sam Foley having to fill in when Joe Shaughnessy has been missing. However, in terms of the starting XI, added creativity through the middle or out wide would be a huge addition to Jim Goodwin’s team. Only St Mirren and Hamilton don’t have representation in the top 30 most frequent key passers. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group
