Rangers took part in two friendlies on Wednesday with a B team taking on Dundee United at Murray Park in the afternoon before the first team were in action against Motherwell in the evening at Ibrox. The games produced contrasting results with the reserves being soundly beaten, while Steven Gerrard’s men thumped the Steelmen.
The line-ups and involvement of certain players in each fixture were of particular interest to many and suggested plenty about the future of some, whether they are destined to leave or are set to stay and play a role in the forthcoming season.

There should be a place for the forward with the first-team. Seven goals in 10 lona appearances for Burton Albion was a clear message of his talent. Has plenty of quality to add to the Rangers team, even if it is as a squad player operating in one of the two No.10 berths. Photo: Paul Devlin - SNS Group

The loan spell last season with Dundee was a disaster for a player who is so highly rated. Scoring against Dundee United in the B team friendly will be a boost for the player but he is likely needing first-team games elsewhere before making the step up to challenge for a first-team spot at Ibrox.
