In the end it was decided by Calum McGregor’s second-half own goal, when Joe Aribo flicked James Tavernier’s corner onto the unwitting Celtic captain with 20 minutes to play.
Celtic had enjoyed a dominant first half but a half-time change from Steven Gerrard improved Rangers’ fortunes, aided further when Nir Bitton hauled down Alfredo Morelos after an hour and was shown a red card by Bobby Madden.
Here’s how the Rangers players rated in the win, their third against Celtic in a row.

9. Alfredo Morelos - 6
Key moment in spinning Bitton for the red card but guilty of losing concentration in melee following Duffy foul on Kent. More threatening then Roofe but not the goalscoring threat he has been to oppositions. Denied by Laxalt in first half. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group

10. Ryan Kent - 8
Sharp and dangerous after sitting out at St Mirren last week. May not have tested Barkas as often as he could have but a persistent nuisance to Celtic's back-line and lifted his performance to levels lesser seen this season. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

11. Kemar Roofe - 5
Disappointingly quiet first half for the in-form striker and hooked at half-time. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

12. Steven Gerrard - 8
Half-time change in tactics and substitution stifled Celtic's dominance and turned the game in Rangers' favour. Quick and decisive to substitute Morelos and with a clean sheet, made the right call at the back too. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group
