Rangers' James Tavernier tips team-mate wanted by Leeds United for EPL move - but only next season

Rangers captain James Tavernier reckons Ryan Kent is set to star in the English Premier League – but hopefully after this season.

The winger has been one of the best players in Scotland this season with a combined eight goals and assists in the Premiership for the league leaders.

Manager Steven Gerrard is desperate to hold on to the 24-year-old with the January transfer window on the horizon.

Kent was the subject of a £10million bid from Leeds United in the summer which the club repelled.

“Ryan has all the qualities to become a really top player,” he said ahead of the Europa League clash with Benfica.

“He’s getting there, you can see that. He’s scoring goals and adding numbers to his game. Hopefully that will continue.

“He is showing incredible consistency. There is nothing better I’d like to see than Ryan in the Premier League and hopefully that day will come — after this season."
