The lead in Group D was at stake when the top two sides met in the Europa League clash at Ibrox, just a few weeks since fighting out a 3-3 draw in Lisbon.
Steven Gerrard went with an attacking line-up – with only Steven Davis and Glen Kamara coming in for Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo to deviate from the weekend’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen.
But it was a case of deja vu for Rangers.
Here's how the players rated.
Scale - 10: One of the best performances you've seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: A terrible day at the office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of the worst performances you've seen.

5. Borna Barisic - 8
Left back's turn to shine with supply for both goals. Left side of defence was targeted by visitors which brought goals and equaliser but Croatian did his job to good effect. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

6. Glen Kamara - 7
Not quite as all action as usual but did his share mucking in deep in defence in the first half. As tidy as usual with possession. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group

7. Steven Davis - 6
So influential in Lisbon, but a lot quieter in this re-match. He did keep Pizzi quiet once the playmaker came on by staying close, but when he slipped out of his sight the Benfica man made Rangers pay. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group

8. Ryan Kent - 8
Great first half from the little winger who seems much happier in himself since the international break. Lovely step out of the way allowed Roofe space for wonderful finish and goal number two. Photo: RUSSELL CHEYNE
