'Trying': Rangers transfer update issued amid Kim Min-su links as Derek McInnes reveals timeline
South Korean becomes latest player to be linked with Ibrox side
Rangers head coach Derek McInnes insists the club are “trying” for further signings and hopes fresh faces will arrive within the next few days amid speculation the Ibrox side are closing in on Girona winger Kim Min-su.
Reports in Spain claim that Rangers are prepared to pay around £8 million for the 20-year-old South Korean, who spent last season on loan at Andorra from the La Liga outfit.
Another wide man is high up on Rangers’ wishlist and they have been also been linked with former player Vaclav Cerny, who is currently at Besiktas. And after Thursday’s 1-0 Conference League play-off round first leg win over Jablonec, McInnes admitted the squad still requires improvement and expects further recruits to come in.

“We'll pick up on that straight after the game, with everybody involved,” McInnes said on potential incomings. “We're trying in a few different areas to get the right players in, players with the right quality. We've been really focused on certain ones. I'm quite hopeful we can do one in the next few days.
“We're working extremely hard. I do think that having that extra level of pace and quality and invention in the top end of the pitch is going to be massive for us to improve. If we can get that, I'm pretty confident we can.”
Rangers have the weekend off ahead of travelling to Czech Republic for the return leg against Jablonec. Asked if the break would offer the club a chance to conclude deals, McInnes continued: “I think our focus, certainly my focus, will be to try and get improvements for the second leg. Obviously, anybody signing can't play in the second leg. But I do feel before we go to Pittodrie a week on Sunday, we'd like to have a couple of additions in.
“The club are well aware of that, everybody's trying hard. As I said before, these ones are normally the more difficult ones to get, the ones where you're paying a bigger ticket money. But clearly, we could do with that. I think for this week, it'll be good. It's been Thursday, Sunday, Sunday, Thursday, and we've not had too much time to work on things. A lot of times we're recovering, but we're trying to take a breath. We're in tomorrow. We're in on Sunday, off Saturday. We're in on Sunday, and then off to the Czech Republic.
“There's loads to work on. There's a lot of stuff in the first half that surprised me that should be a lot better. I just thought we got caught up in the game, played the game a bit young, and we need to be better than we should be. That's what I'm hoping.”
McInnes had no complaints on Cammy Devlin’s red card on 74 minutes. “It's a red card,” the manager said. “There's no debate. I think it looks a hell of a lot worse than it actually was. I think what Cammy's trying to do, and I haven't spoken but I've seen him do this before, when he's trying to buy fouls, he's trying to stick his leg up and put his body in to be fouled because he's in the penalty box.
“He's obviously trying to feel a contact, but because his leg was up to try and put his body in, it's caught the boy on the shin. It looks terrible. When you see the stills of it, it looks like a red card all day long. But I think it looks worse than it actually was, if you know what I mean. So, far from ideal, particularly for a brief moment you think you’ve got a chance to go 2-0 up and try and hammer home some authority.”
On the match itself and the outcome, McInnes added: “The positives are we get a clean sheet, another win, another goal for big [Ryan] Naderi. It's something to take over to the Czech Republic, but I think in the bigger scheme of things there's still loads of work to do here.”
