Rangers tranfers: Danny Rohl lifts lid on January window plans and how targets are selected

Rohl hoping for ‘a lot’ of new Ibrox arrivals when window opens

Rangers manager Danny Rohl revealed he has already spoken to prospective signing targets as he looks to start the recruitment process as early as he can once the transfer window opens on January 1.

Rohl was coy about which positions he sees as a priority – “if I answer maybe the price goes up” – but says he has been working with the club’s hierarchy, including Stig Inge Bjornebye, appointed this week in an advisory role, in a bid to bolster the squad for the second half of the season.

The manager said: “We have had talks with agents, with potential players, ongoing conversations, but I think this is normal.

“The most important key is that I have a good conversation with my recruitment team and with my guys around me. Then we’ll make sure that we find the right players.

“The wishes are to get a lot of players in on January 1. But I think in this window it will be about timing, that’s the first part. And the second thing is preparation.

“I speak with players at the moment, I’ve had some conversations. And then let's see how quickly we can move forward. All the players, they’ll come and help us soon. It will be good to have them here.

“I put some names to the recruitment team, they give me some recommendations. I watch the videos, I give them feedback. We look again at the data. Then I try to have some talks to get a feeling for the players and to ask questions about the expectation.”
