Rangers reject loan bid, Celtic eye 17-goal hitman, Dundee admission - Scottish transfer news
All the latest Scottish transfer rumours on Tuesday morning, with stories from Rangers, Celtic, Dundee, and beyond.
We are now into the final week of the winter transfer window, and clubs are still looking to further strengthen their squad as they count down the days until February 2.
In Tuesday morning’s transfer bulletin, we have all the latest completed deals, reports and rumours from around the Scottish Premiership with reports from Rangers, Celtic, Dundee, and beyond.

Dundee boss makes transfer admission
Dundee head coach Steven Pressley admits the club’s defensive injury crisis has forced him to enter the transfer market for recruits. The 52-year-old boss has been dealt a serious blow with the news that Billy Koumetio and Clark Robertson are set for lengthy spells on the treatment table. Aaron Donnelly is also expected to leave Dens Park this month. meaning he has just two fit centre-halves in the shape of Ryan Astley and Luke Graham.
“Centre-back is a big worry of ours,” admitted the Dark Blues boss. “We need to get somebody in for that area because if we get another injury we're really short. We've looked at a few but there's nothing close at present. The injury situation around defenders hasn’t helped us because there was no real intent to strengthen that area. Of course you always have to be planning, but it wasn't the priority positions for us and of course this has been thrust upon us.
“So it's been thrust upon us a little bit and we're trying to find the right solutions. We actually see Ethan Ingram as a centre-back more than a full-back now. He gives you a lot of pace and athleticism in that area. So really that was the thinking. The thinking was that Ethan would have been the option if we required it.”

Sunderland man undergoes medical
Rangers have missed out on key midfield target Dan Neil after the former Sunderland captain opted to join EFL Championship outfit Ipswich Town on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign. Neil had strong interest from Ibrox head coach Danny Rohl this month, especially as the 24-year-old player is entering the final six months of his deal at the Stadium of Light, with the German boss keen to add another midfielder to his squad before the window shuts next week.
Left out of Sunderland’s squad for their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United at the weekend, it had become increasingly clear that a move was imminent for Neil, and now it has emerged that Kieran McKenna’s side have won the race for his signature. According to a report from Sky Sports, he travelled south yesterday to finalise a loan move to Portman Road, after the promotion-chasing side fended off ‘serious interest’ from Rangers.
Meanwhile, out of favour forward Danilo is a loan target for Eredivisie outfit NEC Nijmegen this month, while Cypriot outfit Pafos are also thought to be mulling over a permanent deal for the Brazilian. The 26-year-old moved to Ibrox three-and-half years ago, but has endured an injury-hit career in Glasgow.

Celtic eye 17-goal hitman
Celtic are hoping to further bolster their attacking options this month, and have now ‘made contact’ with Bodo/Glimt over a deal for free-scoring frontman Kasper Hogh.
The 25-year-old has been in prolific form since signing for the Norwegian giants from Stabæk two years ago, scoring 17 league goals at the Aspmyra Stadion as Kjetil Knutsen’s finished as runners-up in the 2025 Eliteserien season. The striker, already linked to Philippe Clement’s Norwich City, drew further attention by scoring twice in Bodo’s 3-1 Champions League win over Manchester City last week.
According to reports, Parkhead manager Martin O’Neill is ready to compete with the EFL Championship club for Hogh’s signature before the transfer deadline on Monday. The Scottish champions Celtic saw new signing Tomas Cvancara provide an assist on his debut in the 2-2 draw with Hearts at the weekend, following his arrival on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach, but they still seek to further strengthen their frontline before the window closes.

Rangers reject loan bid
Rangers have turned down a bid from Champions League outfit Monaco for winger Djeidi Gassama. The Mauritanian-born star has been tentatively linked with a shock exit from Ibrox this month, with the likes of Club Brugge and Villarreal thought to have been monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation at the club. Earlier this month Italian transfer guru Rudy Galetti, it was claimed that interested parties been keen to discover if the club would be open to discussing a move for Gassama, who has scored just one league goal since his arrival from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.
However, there has now been an official bid for the French youth international, with a report from Foot Mercado claiming the Ligue 1 side had requested a loan-to-buy deal for Gassama. Unsurprisingly, the bid has been rejected, with the Glasgow giants said to be 'counting on the player’ as they look to topple Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership table in the second half of the campaign.
