Rangers offer rejected, Celtic fail in striker bid, Dundee transfer windfall - Scottish transfer news
Here are all the latest Scottish football transfer stories and more on Monday morning - including Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, and Dundee.
We are well into the transfer window as numerous clubs step up their attempts to refresh their squads.
Livingston have already added a couple of players, while league leaders Hearts also have a new player in their ranks after five days of January.
Here are the top Scottish transfer headlines this Monday morning, with reports from Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, and Dundee.

Dundee transfer windfall
Dundee are understood to be keeping a close eye on reported interest in Hibs’ Josh Mulligan, after it was revealed that the club will land a sell-on fee if the in-form midfielder is sold by the Easter Road outfit this month. The 23-year-old left Dens Park in the summer following the expiry of his contract, and has been a revelation for David Gray’s Hibs side in the first half of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
His impressive form in the capital has resulted in him being linked with English Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. At the same time, Celtic are also believed to hold an interest in the player, who broke into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad towards the back end of last year.
Due to being under the age of 23 at the time of the move, Hibs were required to pay compensation for Mulligan, and now Dundee managing director John Nelms has confirmed the club will be due a sell-on fee if he is sold this month in an exclusive interview with the Courier. “I don’t usually talk about contracts, but the answer is yes,” said Nelms. “I’m not going to talk about numbers, but there are achievable events within his agreement that will bring more money to the football club.”
Staying with Dundee, a report over the weekend claims that Aberdeen holds an interest in key defender Luke Graham. They could now look elsewhere after opting to sack manager Jimmy Thelin at the weekend, though.

29-goal former SPFL striker linked to EFL sides
Former Celtic forward Liel Abada could be set to return to UK shores this month, with a host of EFL Championship sides eyeing a move for the Israel international. Having won five trophies in two-and-a-half years at Celtic, the 24-year-old joined Charlotte FC after opting to end his time in Glasgow back in March 2024. Featuring only sporadically in his final season at the club, Abada was made unavailable for selection due to personal issues amid the war in his homeland, Israel.
Having scored five goals in North Carolina last season, it is understood the former Celt has been given the green light to seal a temporary switch back for the remainder of the campaign. The MLS season is not scheduled to restart until March, leading to both Coventry City and Swansea City making a move for the player on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the MLS side happy to allow him to leave on loan.

Celtic fail in striker bid
Celtic look set to miss out on reported striking target Louis Munteanu after the Romanian international entered talks with MLS outfit DC United. Repeatedly linked with the Scottish champions since the summer, the talented young CFR Cluj forward bagged 23 goals in the SuperLiga last year, which saw the club’s asking price rocket to almost £16million, with Celtic believed to have had a bid rejected for the striker during the summer transfer window.
Having failed to land a summer move, the 23-year-old withdrew from the club’s first-team plans in protest at the club’s high asking price and, having since returned to the squad, has struggled in front of goal in the opening half of the campaign. However, he looks to have finally secured a move away from the Transylvania-based side, with FOXSports claiming that the American side has beaten off competition from Celtic for Munteanu’s signature after agreeing a record deal of around $10m.
Meanwhile, Celtic loanee Jahmai Simpson-Pusey looks set to end his frustrating spell at Parkhead, after reports claimed he had flown to Germany over the weekend to discuss a deal with FC Koln. The Manchester City youngster moved to Glasgow on a season-long loan deal in the summer, but has started just one game since his arrival and looks set to cut his temporary stay short.

Rangers offer rejected
Rangers have seen a bid for James Penrice rejected by AEK Athens, according to reports in Greece. The former Hearts defender re-emerged as a January transfer target for the Ibrox giants last week, after the 27-year-old failed to secure regular first-team football in the Super League following his move to the club in the summer.
Head coach Danny Rohl has already been linked with a move for Westerlo left-back Tuur Rommens, with the German boss said to be keen to boost his options in that department after being left with Brentford loanee Jayden Meghoma as his only natural option in the position. However, their hopes of securing a deal for Penrice have been rejected thus far, with Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos claiming the club has seen their original bid for the Scottish defender knocked back.
