Rangers boss Danny Rohl is wanted man yet again as former employers ponder reunion
Austrian side reported to be keen on approaching Ibrox side for head coach
Rangers head coach Danny Rohl is reportedly high up on the wishlist of Austrian giants RB Salzburg.
Reports have emerged in Rohl’s homeland of Germany linking him with the vacancy in Salzburg, who are keen to appoint a manager swiftly after parting company with Daniel Beichler last month.
Salzburg had an underwhelming campaign in the Austrian Bundesliga and finished third in the league. Regulars in the Champions League, they are keen to return to former glories and have identified Rohl as a strong candidate to take them forward.

Rangers appointed Rohl as head coach last summer on a contract until the summer of 2028, with the Ibrox club ending the Premiership campaign in third place. The 37-year-old has also been linked with German side Wolfsburg - although they have since appointed Tobias Strobl after suffering relegation.
Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh gave Rohl a strong vote of confidence last month and insisted the former Sheffield Wednesday boss was the right man to take the club forward. Preparations have already begun for next season with the signing of Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, while there is reported interest in Westerlo right-back Bryan Reynolds.
Rohl has a burgeoning reputation as an up-and-coming coach on the continent and worked previously with the Red Bull group - who own Salzburg - at RB Leipzig. It has been claimed that the Austrian side looked at Rohl last summer while he was still at Sheffield Wednesday.
After a challenging first season as chairman of Rangers, Cavenagh is hoping for a far smoother summer as the Govan outfit look to bridge the gap between themselves and champions Celtic and runners-up Hearts. The American has kept faith with Rohl despite falling away in the title race and missing out on Champions League qualifiers.
What Rangers chief said about Rohl
“As we look to next year, Danny is our coach,” Cavenagh said last month. “We believe that Danny gives us the best chance to win the league next year. We believe that there are two key elements that he needs to succeed, and that would be a revamped squad, which is probably the most important and a preseason.
"He obviously came in mid-season. In terms of revamping the squad, we look at our squad and say we have a bunch of good players. We have a good squad, and we've proven that in fits and spurts throughout the season. But we don't yet have a good team. And that is our focus this summer, is I'm building a winning team.
"We think Danny is a really good coach - and we've seen that throughout the year. He's not perfect. But when you think about what it takes to win, we think the most important change that we need to make is the squad. And with an improved squad, we think Danny will bring titles.
"We recognise that supporting any club, but certainly Rangers is an emotional roller coaster. And a month ago, they were singing Danny's name, and a month later, they're frustrated with Danny.
"And so we completely understand that view on a personal level. We go through that same roller coaster. But our job, as those who run this club, is to not let the club go on that roller coaster ride.
"That we need to be even-keeled, and make sure that we are step by step, and it's not always a straight line, but step by step moving this club towards success. And again, we believe that Danny is part of that.
“I think every manager needs to be given enough time with the right squad to develop, both individually and to develop the team. He hasn’t had this. So the two things we want Danny to have are a changed or revamped squad and a pre-season.
“Coming straight into this is not easy and I think he needs time to get it right.”
Salzburg enter the Europa League at the third qualifying round next season - the same stage as Rangers - although the two teams cannot face each other as they are seeded all the way to the main phase.
