Ex-Rangers star lifts lid on next move

Free agent Ryan Jack admits he is ‘itching’ to get going again after revealing he has held discussions with clubs over his next move. The ex-Aberdeen midfielder was released by the Ibrox giants in the summer before heading to Euro 2024 with Scotland, but has yet to confirm his next club ahead of the new season starting this weekend. "There's been a few, there's been a few", he told PLZ Soccer regarding interest from clubs. "There's also been a few abroad but in football when nothing is in writing, nothing's concrete, it's hard to tell. There have been a few things out there, a few things that have had me excited but we'll see where that goes. Hopefully, it's not too much longer because I'm itching to get back involved."

Scotland ace ‘priority’ for Euro giants

Manchester United are set to have their resolve tested over midfielder Scott McTominay this summer, according to reports in Turkey. The Scotland midfielder has been subjected of interest from English Premier League sides Fulham and West Ham United this summer but has now emerged as a ‘priority’ target from European giants Galatasaray, according to journalist Ertan Süzgün. The 27-year-old has been a key figure for Steve Clarke’s Scotland side, scoring seven goals during their Euro 2024 qualifying stages and scoring seven goals in 32 games at Old Trafford last season and is thought to be rated around the £27million mark. However, The Guardian claim Fulham have launched a second bid of £20million for the midfielder, though United are believed to be holding out for £25 to £30million.

Real Madrid star returns to training ahead of Scotland Euros playoff

Scotland Women forward Caroline Weir has handed head coach Pedro Martinez Losa a huge boost ahead of their crucial Euro 2025 playoff against Hungary after she was pictured back in training with Real Madrid. The ex-Manchester City ace has been out since September 2023 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the 1-1 Nations League draw with Belgium. The 29-year-old posted a photo to her official Instagram page of her with the ball at her feet, alongside a battery emoji and ‘24/25’ - indicating she is close to a return to playing. Scotland boss Martinez Losa had revealed earlier in the month that Weir has successfully completed her rehab from her injury and there are now hopes she could return for the Euro 2025 playoff on October 23.

Celtic transfer ‘close’ ahead of Scottish Premiership opener

Brendan Rodgers could finally be set for a breakthrough in his summer long chase for Adam Idah - and could have him signed in time for the Scottish Premiership opener against Kilmarnock this Sunday. The Hoops have targeted the Norwich City striker throughout the window after he scored seven goals in 15 leagues games whilst on loan to Celtic last summer, but had seen a bid of £4million rebuffed by the Canaries. It emerged earlier this week that Idah had been ‘disciplined’ by the Carrow Road outfit after he failed to turn up for the club’s pre-season friendly against Hoffenheim, with the 23-year-old pushing for a move back to Celtic Park. According to The Scottish Sun, sources in the East Anglia now believe a deal is edging closer to completion, with further talks expected between the clubs this week.

Gers second big ‘rejected’ for EFL star

Rangers boss Philippe Clement received a breakthrough in his quest to rebuild his squad ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season, as he closes in on a move for Dutch centre-back Robin Pröpper. The 30-year-old FC Twente captain is reportedly in Manchester for a medical ahead of a transfer to Ibrox this summer, with the defender seen as a direct replacement for the outgoing Connor Goldson. However, their quest for offensive reinforcements has hit a stumbling block after a second bid for Plymouth Argyle star Morgan Whittaker was rejected by the EFL Championship club. Whittaker, who scored 19 goals for the second tier English outfit last season, was a target for ex-boss Michael Beale while at Swansea City and reports claim Rangers have reignited their interest this month. A move for the player looks in doubt though, with two bids for the forward have already rejected. The Pilgrims said to be holding out for a fee of around £10million.
