Mikey Moore set for another loan move after Rangers as teenager links up with Celtic flop

Playmaker keen to try his hand in top-five league

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to let former Rangers starlet Mikey Moore leave the club on loan, with German side Koln leading the race to sign him.

Teenager Moore impressed for Rangers last season, scoring seven times and claiming PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year despite a difficult start in Glasgow.

His form at Ibrox earned Moore the chance to catch the eye of Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi this summer and, despite plenty of minutes along with bright moments during pre-season matches, it has been reported that all parties have agreed that another loan would be best for the development of the versatile forward.

Middlesbrough had already expressed a desire to take Moore on loan and pair him up with old Tottenham academy team-mate Will Lankshear after he moved to Teesside earlier this month in a £20millon package. However, Moore is understood to prefer a move abroad to one of the top five leagues in Europe.

Under previous head coach Danny Rohl, Rangers had also intimated to make the 18-year-old’s spell at Ibrox permanent - but that chance now appears dead in the water, with a fresh challenge now the preferred option.

Borussia Dortmund registered an interest at the start of the summer transfer window, but wanted an option to purchase Moore in any season-long loan deal, which was rejected by Spurs. A straight loan for Moore has not put off Bundesliga clubs Koln and Hamburg, while teams from LaLiga have also made enquiries to Tottenham.

Koln are no strangers to the English market, with Reigan Heskey and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey in their squad - with the latter having spent an ill-fated loan move at Celtic last season.

Rangers remain in the market for reinforcements, especially those that can play out wide. They may also dip into the transfer market to replenish their central defensive options after centre-half Ben Godfrey was injured in the Premiership opener against Dundee United.
