The Scottish Premiership transfer window is now open and Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and other Scottish Premiership clubs are already hard at work as they build the strongest squads possible for the upcoming season.
Big money moves naturally catch the attention of supporters, but there are plenty of bargain free transfers able to be found throughout the summer, with a number of top quality players available on the free agent market each and every transfer window.
As shown by the signings of Kasper Schmeichel at Celtic, Junior Hoilett at Hibs and Liam Kelly at Rangers, these signings can prove to be shrewd to top flight teams and can make important contributions without the need for a transfer fee.
Here, The Scotsman look at 12 of the top free agents available to clubs in the Scottish Premiership this summer...

9. Freddie Woodman - Preston North End
One of the most highly-rated goalkeepers in the EFL Championship, he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension at Deepdale and will become a free agent in the coming weeks. Still just 28, Woodman would be a very shrewd signing for a number of top flight clubs this summer. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

10. Fraser Forster - Tottenham Hotspur
The former Celtic hero won eight trophies across two spells with the club earlier in his career. Set to leave Spurs following the expiration of his contract, the 37-year-old seemingly has no plans to retire and could be a cheap, experienced option for a number of Scottish Premiership teams who require a new goalkeeper. | Michael Regan/Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

11. Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Everton
Departing Everton this summer, he has already been loosely linked with Manchester United. Has international experience, having been capped by England a number of times, and is a high-quality free agent option. His wages are likely to rule him out of a move to the Scottish Premiership, though. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

12. Jamie Vardy - Leicester City
Linked with a move to both Rangers and Celtic in the last few weeks, following his departure from Leicester City after 13-years in the Midlands. The legendary striker may now be 38, but remains a hot property. His future will be decided soon. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
