First half goals from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos, either side of Odsonne Edouard’s header gave the hosts the half-time lead – and the y capitalised on Celtic’s ten men to add another through Roofe in the second half.
Roofe's first - a clever chested finish from ten yards out to beat Scott Bain - was followed immediately by Callum McGregor's dismissal for Celtic after picking up a second yellow card in the build-up.
Celtic responded when Edouard headed in from close range but Morelos was emphatic in his finish to restore the lead Rangers would not relinquish.
Roofe added a classy header in the second to extend the lead, but Borna Barisic limped out with 15 minutes left to slightly sour an enjoyable afternoon for the blue half of Glasgow.
Substitute Jermain Defoe added a late goal to add gloss to the scoreline.

9. Alfredo Morelos - 8
Incredible finish to restore the lead to cap an all-round striker’s performance from the Colombian. Looked settled in throughout the game and what was being expected of him. Photo: Ian MacNicol

10. Kemar Roofe - 9
Ingenious quick-thinking to give Rangers the lead and reward for constant running in first half hour, brilliant header for his second. Won't have split any opinions on this afternoon's work. Photo: Ian MacNicol

11. Ryan Kent - 9
Had Celtic defence on backfoot from start with direct running and seemed completely at ease in his role, playing with shoulders back driving runs through the middle. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group

12. Manager - Steven Gerrard
Played it perfectly with line-up and stats all fall in his favour for first season without Old Firm defeat in 21 years. Only sour note is Barisic's late injury concern. Photo: Ian MacNicol
