Potentially losing your talismanic striker ahead of the start of the season is not the best way to get the new campaign underway. That, however, could be the situation Rangers find themselves in when they travel to Aberdeen on Saturday for their first Scottish Premiership fixture.
Alfredo Morelos has been heavily linked with a move to French side Lille who are keen on the Colombian to help replace Nigerian Victor Osimhen who is nearing a huge move to Napoli. The good news is that Rangers would have plenty of time to get a replacement in before the transfer window shuts, bad news is that it isn’t great for the team in the short term.

5. Lawrence Shankland
After two sensational goalscoring seasons, the Scotland international is ready to step up to the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United. Like Dykes, however, it's unlikely Rangers would be keen to make him their No.1 striker, despite his prowess in front of goals. Photo: Ross Parker - SNS Group

6. Mirko Maric
Rangers have had mixed success in the Balkan region with the likes of Borna Barisic, Nikola Katic and Eros Grezda. Maric has been linked with Rangers previously and is joint top goalscorer in Croatia. The 24-year-old has a dangerous left foot, not as aggressive as Morelos but keen to be involved in the build-up. 7. Lyle Taylor
The former Falkirk and Partick Thistle striker made the decision not to sign on for Charlton after his contract expired and complete the season. Has yet to sign for a new club and has been talked about as a Rangers target. In his prime. Photo: Bryn Lennon

8. Rhian Brewster
Another who has been linked with Rangers, likely due to the Liverpool connections with Steven Gerrard. Brewster has been on loan from the Premier League champions to Swansea where he has found his form again after a serious injury. Photo: Stu Forster
