Another dismal display at Celtic Park could see Rangers boss Philippe Clement turning to the free agent market as he desperately looks to address his side’s alarming early slide.
Already five points behind their rivals, the Gers’ summer rebuild made little difference to their Old Firm fortunes as the Hoops ran out comfortably 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyoro Furuhashi and Callum McGregor and the Belgian boss admitting his may well scour the free agent market in a bid to strengthen his squad.
Clement has been searching for a striker to rival Cyriel Dessers as the club’s number nine for some months now, while Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury has left the Ibrox club light in the full-back areas, so the need for further strengthening is evident.
But which available players could aid the Light Blues in the long - and short - term? Here are 13 free agent players Rangers could target this month.

5. Brandon Williams - Left-back
Reportedly on Philippe Clement's shortlist already, the ex-Manchester United youngster has bags of potential and fills a problem position for Rangers with Ridvan Yilmaz out injured. He's had a troubled time recently and was plagued with injury last season, but offers a low risk, high reward option. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

6. Ezgjan Alioski - Left-back
An alternative, more experienced option at full-back would be that of former Leeds United cult-hero Alioski. Part of Marcelo Bielsa's promotion winning side at Elland Road, the North Macedonian has recently departed Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli. At 32, he's no spring chicken but potentially provides the Gers a reliable - and versatile - option on a short-term deal. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

7. Robert Skov - Left-back/midfield
The Danish international is still just 28 and available on a free transfer after leaving Hoffenheim in the summer. His stats in last season's Bundesliga make for good reading, with three goals and four assists. His versatility provides Rangers an option and he's definitely worth a look. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

8. Andre Gomes - Midfielder
Could Rangers afford the wages of the ex-Valencia and Barcelona player? The Portuguese international was very highly rated before a career-threatening leg break put him out of the game for over a year. With central midfield options light and lacking quality, Gomes would be an excellent option at the base of midfield if he could be tempted to make the switch.
