We’re now just a week away from the end of the transfer window with clubs scrambling around trying to attract talent in the hope of strengthening their chances of a successful campaign ahead.
But for some the transfer window is not the end. In fact, it can provide a boost in their own hopes of finding employment next season.
The global pandemic has made it harder to players to move around or find a club with pockets deep enough to meet their needs. Such free agents can be forgotten about in the closing days of the window as clubs concentrate on those deals they need to get over the line by September 1.
Here are 11 familiar faces who are still searching around for their next destination...

5. Anthony Stokes
The 33-year-old former Hibs and Celtic star was on trial at Shamrock Rovers this summer, after ripping up his Livingston contract without playing a game, but no move has yet transpired. Photo: Mark Scates - SNS Group

6. Craig Conway
An important squad player for Saints last term, he did find his opportunities limited further as the season progressed. At 36, his age will likely put off a lot of suitors. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

7. Efe Ambrose
Still only 32, but his stock has dropped after a so-so spell with Livingston where he failed to replicate his form with Hibs, whom he joined after leaving Celtic. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

8. Anthony Andreu
A star with Hamilton in the mid-2010s, the 33-year-old is coming off the back of successive underwhelming spells with his old club, St Mirren and Ross County. Photo: Paul Devlin - SNS Group
