Rangers improve bid, Celtic star 'can be Grealish replacement', Serie A interest in Hibs ace - transfer news

Scottish football transfer rumours

There are still 25 days left in the Scottish transfer window with plenty more new signings and departures expected across the Premiership.

Here are the latest rumours doing the rounds this Sunday morning including updates from Celtic, Rangers and Hibs...

Celtic star ‘can be Grealish replacement’

Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren has been talked up as a potential Jack Grealish alternative at Everton.

The Sweden international has been linked with a move to the English Premier League this summer after contributing 21 goals and nine assists in an impressive first season at Parkhead.

He is already up and running for the new campaign after netting in the opening day win over Dundee and former Arsenal and Everton star Anders Limpar reckons his fellow countrynan would be a hit down south.

Limpar, speaking to SveaCasino, said: "I like Benjamin Nygren a lot. He only played a couple of games for Sweden at the World Cup but he would be a very good player in a Premier League side after what he’s shown at Celtic.

"He can make that step now. The Scottish Premiership is very tough and he has proven he can handle it. It’s probably even tougher than the Premier League when it comes to the tackles.

"It would be good for Sweden too if somebody had a go at signing him this summer. Maybe Aston Villa or Newcastle United? I think if Jack Grealish doesn’t come back to Everton, Benjamin would be a good replacement for him as well. He can score goals and create goals too. I think he would score 15 goals in the Premier League playing for a club like Everton."

Rangers improve bid

Rangers have submitted an improved offer for PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech, according to a report.

It was claimed in the Dutch media that the 24-year-old Moroccan was the subject of a £6million offer from the Ibrox club last week, which was turned down.

Discussions are ongoing with the Scottish Sun reporting that Rangers have tabled a fresh bid over the weekend as they look to win the chase ahead of rivals suitors Celtic Viga and Burnley.

Driouech, who scored four times in the Champions League last season, was left out of the PSV squad for the match against Fortuna Sittard on Saturday as negotiations over his future continue. Rangers boss Derek McInnes is keen to add another winger to his squad after landing Diasuke Yokota for £2.7million from Hannover 96 last week.

The Rangers Review state that Driouech is one of a handful of targets that are still being pursued by the Ibrox recruitment team.

The outlet also state that interest in Farès Ghedjemis, the Frosinone winger, has cooled after initial approaches failed to find a common ground in terms of a valuation for the Algerian.

A report by Sky Sports claims that the Italians have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, who has three years left on his Hibs contract.

Meanwhile, Sunderland are one of a number of clubs weighing up a move for Sassuolo left-back Josh Doig. The former Hibs star has spent the last four years in Italy, building a strong reputation in Serie A.

He made 30 top-flight appearances last season, but a summer departure now looks highly likely, with European heavyweights Marseille and Olympiakos also keeping close tabs on the Scotsman's situation.

Doig has two years remaining on his Sassuolo contract.
